How I can print reasonably sized pictures, say 6x4in, from Tiff images? The pictures were taken with a digital camera and emailed to me. If I receive them as BMP images they are automatically associated with Microsoft Paint and I can obtain a reasonable size, good quality print from them. If they come as TIF images they are opened on an image viewer and are initially displayed rather small.
The software offers three sizes of print: Actual, Fit to page and Pixel to Pixel, but none of them are useful, being either too big or too small. I use Windows 95, but don't have any special programs for processing images. Do I need additional software?

You might find a bitmap editor like Paint Shop Pro useful. However, you probably have a word processor such as Microsoft Word, which has a graphics import filter for TIF images and a host of other types. If you can't find the filter, it may not have been installed when the word processor was installed originally, so rerun the Setup program and add this option.
Using the graphics filter you can insert images into a word processor document, and then adjust the image properties to make the picture the size you want from the Format Picture dialog box. Using a word processor you can also easily add captions to the printed images, too.
